Take note: There is a global paradigm shift underway. And this paradigm shift will be so dramatic, so dynamic, so exciting that it will give way to what I call a "Global Watershed Moment." And it’s happening so fast, that if you blink 2 times you might miss it–and the opportunities that present themselves because of it.
We are bearing witness to the death of the Industrial Age and the birth of the Information Age. While many of the traditional rules of business world have remained the same, many others have changed.
Case in point–one popular idiom of the last era went like this:
It’s not what you know, it’s who you know.
That’s Industrial Age thinking. In the Information economy, the adage is:
It’s not who you know. It’s who knows you.

By now you might be asking, "So what’s the difference, Nada?" Good question. Glad you asked. And I’ll answer your question with one or two of my own.
You may know a lot of influential people worldwide, but do they think of you when an opportunity arises? If not, why not? Moreover, do you think it would benefit you if they did? Of course it would. Your global network is your global net worth.
No matter how outstanding you may be, networking really comes down to getting your personal brand out there in front of your expat stakeholders and communicating what you bring to the table consistently, and in a memorable manner.
Don’t just namedrop your "Connection". Get your him to know you. Position yourself to take advantage of GeoArbitrage, business deals, real estate transactions and financial opportunities you may not have otherwise been privy to without that network.
Chew on that one for awhile, Pilgrim.
And go Find Your Own Never Never Land.
